The Scotia Prince ferry which runs between Tuticorin in India and Colombo in Sri Lanka may soon add package tours in India and Sri Lanka to increase their passenger numbers. The package tours would be offered in association with hoteliers in area and the Travel Club in Madurai.

The plans should be finalized soon, according to a travel industry spokesman. Upon arrival in Tuticorin, passengers from Colombo would be taken to sites of historical importance in the Tuticorin area. They would also be able to choose excursions to hills stations like Kodaikanal, Ooty and Munnar. Plans are also underway for special theme package tours, such as a church circuit that would visit churches in Uvari and Velankanni, for example. Another temple circuit would visit famous temples in places like Madurai and Rameswaram.
